Guillermo Luna

Mr. Guillermo Luna Rivera brings more than 18 years of experience supporting military-connected students and families through his work in education, human resources, and school operations. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the University of Puerto Rico, English teaching certification from the Puerto Rico Department of Education, and a Master of Arts in Educational and Leadership Management from the Inter-American University.

Mr. Luna began his career as a secondary English teacher in Puerto Rico, where he designed standards-based instruction, analyzed student achievement data, implemented targeted interventions, and collaborated with families and support personnel to promote student success. He later joined the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoWEA) as a School Support Assistant at Yokota Middle School in Japan. He also served as a Human Resources Instructor with the U.S. Army Senior ROTC program, evaluating educational programs, supporting academic planning, and mentoring future leaders.

Most recently, Mr. Luna served as the Administrative Officer at Antilles High School, where he supported school operations and contributed to a positive, student-centered learning environment. He is enthusiastic about supporting educators and creating conditions where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

A U.S. Army veteran, father of an active–duty service officer, and parent of a military-connected student, Mr. Luna, along with his wife, Patricia, are dedicated to serving DoWEA educators and the military–connected students of the Fort Buchanan community and the Mid–Atlantic District.
