Schedule Update: Black/Gold Days
As we move through the remainder of the school year, there will be a few adjustments to our Black/Gold Day schedule. These changes allow us to accommodate Parent-Teacher Conferences, maintain the correct instructional sequence of Black and Gold days, and ensure alignment with Antilles Middle School. We encourage families and students to review the updated calendar carefully to stay informed of the revised schedule for the coming weeks.
Attendance Matters: Be Present, Be Successful
In our previous newsletter, we highlighted the importance of regular attendance. While we have seen some improvement, student absenteeism continues to be a concern. Being present at school each day is essential for students to receive instruction and participate in the engaging and collaborative learning experiences taking place in our classrooms.
We would like to remind families that the DoDEA Attendance Policy clearly defines what qualifies as an excused versus an unexcused absence. Unexcused absences may result in late penalties for assignments and, in cases of excessive absenteeism, could lead to the loss of credit for a class or course. Repeated unexcused absences may also result in disciplinary actions, such as student detentions.
We encourage parents to regularly review their student’s grades and attendance in Aspen to stay informed of their academic progress. For additional details, please refer to the Attendance Policy in the Handbook section of our school website. By working together to prioritize attendance, we can help ensure our students remain engaged, supported, and on track for success.
